The sword plant, Altlandsberg Sword’s colorful leaves is a great addition to an aquarium. The plant can be both immersed and submersed. With the immersed form it can show deep red veins the full length of the leaf. The color of the leaves are a tan to green color and cordiform in shape. The growth of the emersed plant is compact which can make a potted plant. The submersed version of the plant is equally as beautiful with darker tan leaves and deep red veins which are larger and more delicate. The submersed version grows slower and larger that can fit as a centerpiece plant in the aquarium. Like other sword plants the Echinodorus Altlandsberg eventually is able to grow out surface leaves and inflorescence on the surface. The plant is new to the American market which was started in Germany.
